Airdate: The Weakest Link

Rebooted game show is coming to Tuesdays on Nine.

Magda Szubanski will debut as host of The Weakest Link on Nine on Tuesday May 4th.

The show will debut at 8:50pm following Lego Masters.

Filming began this week at Docklands Studios in Melbourne, on a huge set, produced by BBC Studios Australia.

The reboot, as first revealed by TV Tonight, follows from a successful return of the format in the US with Jane Lynch.

Nine plans to screen the series weekly, although it isn’t clear for how many weeks as yet.

BBC Studio’s ANZ Director of Production Kylie Washington, said: “We are delighted to reintroduce Australians to this fast, fun and addictive show which is a pop cultural phenomenon. In Magda Szubanski we have found the perfect host who will preside over the contestants with her acerbic wit as they do battle to avoid being voted Weakest Link.”

  1. Was this originally meant to start at 7.30PM on a Wednesday or was it Tuesday after Lego Masters all along ,it is an odd choice I admit and doesn’t inspire confidence.

      1. Yeah I know I meant to say a Tuesday and LM may have moved to 2 nights ,only a few weeks left for that now ,I’ll watch to see it thanks DK

  2. Terrible time slot, should be 7:30pm. I really don’t see Magda working as the host, she’s know for her soft approach and as a comedian. Where as Cornelia was known for her hard no nonsense characters from previous dramas. I’d never want to cross paths with Morag Bellingham in the 80s and 90s.

    1. @Leo : Both good reasons in my book. She had good points. This is however an odd time for the show. They should wait until Lego Masters is done, then run a weekly 7.30pm show.
