Season 9 of Outback Truckers launches next week on 7mate, with its 100th episode set to screen on Tuesday, 25 May -an impressive achievement for a locally-produced multichannel show.

Across its nine seasons, the series has created over 450 jobs in the Western Australian screen sector.

Julia Redwood, Prospero Productions Executive Producer and Managing Director said: “I’m so proud of the show! When Outback Truckers first aired in 2012 it was the first of its kind. It took us four years to get the show up and it was 7mate that finally helped us get it over the line. The success is now truly global, with millions of viewers watching in over 120 countries.”

Billy Betts, Seven Network Head Of Multichannel Programming said: “7mate leads the way with local commissions for a multichannel in Australia. The demographic winning channel has strategic investments across factual and scripted, with hit shows such as Aussie Salvage Squad, Towies, Outback Opal Hunters, Aussie Lobster Men, Desert Collectors, Fat Pizza and Housos.

Outback Truckers started it all back in 2012 and to now reach 100 episodes is a great credit to Prospero Productions and the many people involved across production and financing, as well as the programming and marketing teams at Seven.”

Season 9 begins 8:30pm Tuesday May 4th on 7mate.

  1. I never thought I’d find myself watching this show but it is much more engaging than the majority of stuff offered up on commercial TV, probably because the characters are not loudmouth wannabes but are just ordinary people doing their little bit in tough circumstances to keep the country going. Great scenery too!
