Daina Reid to direct Apple series

Aussie director Daina Reid will direct upcoming Apple TV thriller Shining Girls, which reunites her with Elisabeth Moss.

Reid previously directed on The Handmaid’s Tale.

The series based on the 2013 best-selling Lauren Beukes novel of the same name, centres around Kirby (Moss) a Chicago reporter who survived a brutal assault only to find her reality shifting.

The series also stars Wagner Moura (Narcos) as Dan, a veteran journalist breaking a widening story. Jamie Bell (Rocketman) plays Harper, a mysterious loner with a surprising connection to Kirby.

Elisabeth Moss will also direct along with Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad)

The eight-part series will be adapted for the small screen and executive produced by showrunner Silka Luisa (The Wilding, To the Bone).

Reids credits include Blue Heelers, The Secret Life of Us, Rush, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Offspring, Paper Giants, Howzat! Kerry Packer’s War, Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS, The Secret River, Sunshine and I Love You Too.
