I’m trying not to see The White Lotus as a Fantasy Island reboot (but that’s already having one).
The six-episode limited HBO series is filmed on the island of Maui, and follows the vacations of various hotel guests over the span of a week as they relax and rejuvenate in paradise. But with each passing day, a darker complexity emerges in these picture-perfect travellers, the hotel’s cheerful employees and the idyllic locale itself.
The cast includes Australia’s own Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, Fred Hechinger, Jake Lacy, Brittany O’Grady, Natasha Rothwell, Sydney Sweeney, Steve Zahn and Molly Shannon.
What’s also worth pointing out is it’s written & directed by Mike White, who will be well known to many fans of Survivor.
Monday, July 12 at 11.00am AEST on FOX Showcase.
