The Many Saints of Newark: trailer

A trailer has been released for The Many Saints of Newark, a Sopranos prequel feature which is having a cinema release in Australia.

Michael Gandolfini, the son of late star James Gandolfini, takes on the role of the young Tony Soprano.

Directed by Alan Taylor and written by David Chase and Lawrence Konner, it also stars Alessandro Nivola, Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro, Michela De Rossi, Ray Liotta, and Vera Farmiga.

The story is set in the 1960s and 1970s in Newark, New Jersey, using the 1967 riots in the city as a backdrop for tensions between the Italian-American and African-American communities.

Released September 23 in Australia. As an HBO Max title it could come to Foxtel / Binge thereafter (to be confirmed).
