Nine Sydney will screen a network tribute to legendary news presenter Brian Henderson, Brian Henderson: The Way it Was: 50 Years of Television News hosted by Peter Overton.

A special tribute to the late television legend hosted by Peter Overton looking back on the most important stories Brian brought us during his career as Australia’s number one newsreader.

Updated: Nine has already advised this is now out this Sunday with a date TBA.

  1. I Grew Up in NSW And I Used to watch Brian Reading The News And Also Remember him hosting Bandstand until 1972 I Still think the Tribute Program should be broadcast Nationally on one of the 9 Network Channels

    1. I agree with npstanley80. Although Brian Henderson will be primarily remembered by people who grew up in NSW or the ACT watching him read the Sydney version of National Nine News, he also hosted a pop music TV show made at Channel 9 Sydney studios between the late 1950’s and the early 1970’S (before I was born) called “Bandstand”. I believe this show was seen in most other areas of Australia at the time. This is a reason why it should be broadcast nationwide on the Nine Network, in primetime in NSW/ACT and at a different timeslot in other states and territories.
