“Hello and welcome to Friday. A Covid scare of our own overnight, we join you after a staffer tested positive,” Natalie Barr told Sunrise viewers this morning.
“The studio has been deep cleaned. We’ve all been tested.
“Eddy (Bartholomew) is a close contact so she’s isolating but is all right. And Kochie was already having the day off so Michael (Usher) is here.”
Executive Producer Michael Pell tweeted, “On air with @sunriseon7 after a COVID scare of our own. A Seven staffer is positive. The team has been tested and is OK. Some are isolating. Studio deep-cleaned overnight. Strict protocols remain in place. The show must go on.”

A Seven statement said, “Seven’s number one priority is the health, safety and welfare of all staff and the community.”
Meanwhile in an unrelated matter Spotlight reporter Denham Hitchcock posted on social media that he has been hospitalised after a rare side effect of the Pfizer vaccine, but insists he is “not anti-vax”, but “pro-choice” and “pro-opening the bloody country up.” He made the decision to share his story because as a journalist “it would be hypocritical not to.”
