CTV Antenna Awards switch to pre-recorded event

“We are incredibly disappointed that we are not going to be able to proceed with an in-person event."

The latest casualty of COVID saga are the Antenna Awards, which will now move from a Live event to pre-recorded in mid September.

Community TV stations C31 and C44 made the decision this week due to the unfolding situation across Australia.

A special pre-recorded broadcast for the milestone 10th awards will screen on September 18th at 8pm AEST. It will also be available to watch on the newly launched ctvplus.org.au.

This year’s awards feature 25 categories with over 80 Community TV programs nominated.

C31 Melbourne’s General Manager Shane Dunlop said, “We were desperate to find a way to celebrate Community TV’s recent three-year licence renewal with an in-person event, whilst paying tribute to our many great program makers nominated for this year’s awards but in the interests of keeping everyone safe, we have made the decision, in consultation with our friends in Adelaide, to cancel the awards ceremony as planned for 2021.

“We are incredibly disappointed that we are not going to be able to proceed with an in-person event. We look forward to the possibility of holding the awards again at a time where our sector can truly celebrate – together.”
