New US dramas for Sam Worthington, John Noble, Adelaide Clemens.

Sam Worthington, Adelaide Clemens join new drama by Dustin Lance Black while John Noble takes to the Star Trek universe.

There are more US casting roles announced for Australian actors.

Sam Worthington will feature in upcoming Hulu drama Under the Banner of Heaven.

Based on the Jon Krakauer novel of the same name, the series follows a devout detective whose faith is tested as he investigates a brutal murder that seems to be connected to an esteemed Utah family’s spiral into LDS fundamentalism and their distrust in the government.

Worthington is joined by fellow Aussie Adelaide Clemens (Love My Way, Parade’s End).

The series leads are Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar-Jones. Dustin Lance Black created the series and will serve as an executive producer along with Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Samie Kim Falvey and Anna Culp for Imagine Television. Production recently began in Calgary.

Meanwhile John Noble (Fringe, Elementary) has joined Star Trek: Prodigy, the latest addition to the expanding universe of Trek series.

Noble will voice the animated series’ lead villain, known as the Diviner, who rules the mining asteroid of Tars Lamora in a merciless quest to locate the U.S.S. Protostar, the mysteriously abandoned experimental Federation starship at the centre of the show. Instead, a motley crew of six young aliens finds the ship, and learns from the emergency training hologram, Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), how to operate it and what the Federation stands for.

Star Trek: Prodigy is the first Trek series to be made explicitly for a younger audience. It is yet to be confirmed for Paramount+.

  1. I might check out UTBOH based on the premise, but experience has taught me Sam Worthington is a terrible actor and he really struggles with an American accent.

  2. Sam’s role in the movie ‘The Debt’ which was recently released on Netflix probably could have been phoned in, his facial expression hardly changed at all, hopefully Under The Banner of Heaven offers a bit more for him.
