Speculation Erin Molan may leave Nine NRL team?

Media whispers Erin Molan will depart at the end of season.

Is Erin Molan set to quit Nine’s rugby league coverage at the end of the season?

Phil Rothfield speculates in the Sunday Telegraph she has told colleagues of her plans to step aside after the grand final to spend more time with her dad, Senator Jim Molan, who is fighting cancer.

Earlier reports noted she is also off-contract with Nine later this year.

Molan hosts both Friday night games and NRL Sunday Footy Show.

  1. After reading some footy socials this morning I understand why she complains about the vitriol she receives. What the majority say about her is disgusting.

  2. She is also part of Wide World of Sports broader telecasts too (as David mentioned “NRL Footy Show”) and Nine’s ‘summer of tennis’. She’s had such an impact for some years now at Nine, including tons of newspaper and magazine articles and publicity surrounding her.

  3. Apart from Nine what other network has the $$ available to bid for NRL rights?? Maybe 7/Foxtel but that is a conflict of interest to AFL rights. 10 maybe but l doubt they are interested now. 10 seem to be looking for nationwide audience appeal and NRL is centric to NSW & Qld.

  4. With reports Peter Sterling is also leaving it makes you wonder if these personalities are making a pre-emptive move so they’re available when another network scoops up the rights to the NRL.
