Wow…Perth audience was bigger than Sydney….
Shocked 3 million people watched that shocking grainy picture 7 served up! Truly shocking on a big screen TV!
The worst so called HD on FTA ,it goes to show that most people have no idea or don’t really care what proper full HD is meant to look like and this ain’t it.
Good ratings for the AFL! Think last yr was 2.98m so up on that but bit shorter than the 3.3m that watched SYD/WCE play
Huge numbers for the AFL. The NRL must be in the foetal position. The Storm Panthers game was billed as the likely Grand Final for the last 5 months and it’s ratings are a shocker National wide and in Sydney. The AFL GF almost out rated the NRL in Sydney…. With the NRL broadcast rights up for grabs, what value do you place in them now?
It’s ratings were 1.7 million Australia wide which are actually terrific for a qualifying final. I suggest you check the overall ratings across all platforms before making a comparison between a grand final only on fta and a qualifying final on fta and stv.
I did, the NRL ratings were very poor, reflects the constant rule changes, poor refereeing and poor behaviour of players I think. Considering Sydney and Melbourne are in lockdown too
Sorry Ann but collectively throughout this final series the nrl numbers are up by nearly 2 million viewers from last year.
The football itself has been terrific.
Ok let’s not get into code wars, and move on please.
Hi Yes those numbers are huge and I am sure that those are the numbers every year it is just that so many fans from Melbourne usually go to hotels, bars and restaurants to watch and celebrate the grand final and those figures are never included in the ratings
No pubs this year. It’s the same measurement as every year.
Holy F***! Seven’s share. Is that the highest % ever?
Plus 3 mil audience for AFL GF – surely highest rated program this year.
Poor Ten – that’s all.
To last year, it was up in percent terms of 1.1 for Seven on it’s own, surprisingly the Seven Network as a whole was the same as last year at 65.8%, numbers wise last year 2,979,000 vs this year 3,006,000.
Here: https://tvtonight.com.au/2020/10/saturday-24-october-2020.html
Those numbers are absolutely huge 😳 All the more reason to continue the push for a night grand final. The game looks so much better under lights. No shadows to worry about.
Mind boggling. Such huge numbers for the AFL Grand Final. Over 3 million viewers is amazing . The pre-game and post-game segments are huge too.
This would be a great time for a rare Saturday Ratings report….. to see the low numbers against the Grand Final.
Bigger than 2020. Once this number gets BVOD and National numbers in Total TV its going to be huge
Earth-shattering numbers and share for primetime AFL Grand Final.
The Perth audience was outrageous. That truly is massive.
I am going to go out on a limb here and forecast this is week number 19 for seven (incl Olympics) … a 40 point difference just eeeks them over.
Will be interesting to compare next week’s NRL final numbers with this weekend’s AFL.
The large number of goals kicked last night (31) translated to more than 25 30-second ad breaks watched by 3 million eyeballs (5 cap cities only). Seven network will be very happy.
I’m looking forward to 2022. Go Dees!
It will be a like for like comparrison – 2 Sydney teams in NRL, 2 Melbourne teams in AFL, both in prime time, although no conflicting sports for NRL, although don’t think the Rugby made much of a dent.
As David noted above this isn’t a place for code wars clip!
I wasn’t contributing to the code war as you were, as noted, earlier.
Just highlighting that it’s quite rare to have both GF consisting of teams from Melb. or Syd. The last time this happened was in 2010. I have no idea what the figures for NRL GF will be, but it will be the first time in 10 years where there won’t be ‘interstate’ teams playing and the first time ever they have both been in prime time (although I’m not sure on that fact)
