Production is underway in Sydney on a new short form animated series Ginger & the Vegesaurs for ABC Kids.

Based on the concept created by Gary Eck and Nick O’Sullivan, and co-developed by the team at Cheeky Little, the 20 x 5 minute series will bring preschoolers the juiciest and crunchiest vegetable creatures ever to rule the planet: Ginger, a young Tricarrotops and her baby Pea-Rex buddies Minty, Wasabi and Split.

Head of ABC Children’s Production, Libbie Doherty says, “Ginger the Tricarrotops and her trusty Vegesaur gang will take the ABC Kids audience on a hilarious and wild ride through the crunchiest period of natural history. Congratulations to Gary, Nick and the Cheeky Little Team for developing a series that kids will immediately fall in love with and quite possibly make them hungry too – in a good way!”

Lee Naimo, Screen Australia’s Head of Online says, “The talented team at Cheeky Little are back with yet another lively and engaging story that is sure to appeal to kids here on ABC and around the world online. We were so impressed with the original world they’ve created in Ginger & the Vegesaurs and can’t wait to see the cute and crunchy creatures brought to life.”

Patrick Egerton, Executive Producer, Cheeky Little says, “It’s been a wonderful journey developing and producing Ginger & the Vegesaurs. It’s a completely fresh take on the dinosaur genre, packed with action, comedy and heart and we can’t wait to introduce kids to the creatures, sights and sounds of Vegesaur valley”.

The series deploys an innovative Unreal led production pipeline, growing Cheeky Little’s in-house capacity to handle asset creation, lighting and rendering in-engine, with animation being handled by Infinite Frameworks.
