Gogglebox, please switch off the lights when you’re done?
It was a world of Free to Air pain on Thursday. Was everybody watching Squid Game?

Ouch. Free to Air viewing had a dreadful night, aside from a few dependable performers, although SBS lifted its share.
Gogglebox was easily the top entertainment show on Thursday with 577,000 metro viewers and led the demos.
An extended Home & Away drew 566,000 / 554,000 but then everything else in primetime was under 500,000 viewers and it just got worse….
To be clear, afternoon game shows such as Tipping Point (283,000) beat everything else after 8:30pm (Gogglebox aside).
Sunrise (249,000) and Today (237,000) also outranked everything after 8:30 aside from Q+A (276,000).
Here’s how they stacked up: 7:30 (439,000), Paramedics (414,000), Foreign Correspondent (295,000) and Coastal Devon & Cornwall with Michael Portillo (243,000).
No joy for America’s Got Talent (232,000), Ambulance Australia (227,000), Back to the Titanic (211,000), The Cheap Seats (210,000), The Latest (181,000), and Love Island (173,000).
Seven network still came out in front at a 30.3% share then Nine 24.8%, 10 19.0%, ABC 15.6% and SBS 10.3%.
Seven News was #1 at 957,000 / 955,000 viewers.
Nine News (942,000 / 914,000) was best for Nine then A Current Affair (716,000) and Hot Seat (402,000 / 240,000). Love Island AfterParty tanked at just 85,000. Yikes.
The Project drew 343,000 / 230,000. 10 News First was 321,000 / 194,000.
ABC News was 657,000. The Drum (154,000) and Secrets of the Museum (144,000) followed.
On SBS it was SBS World News (152,000 / 125,000) and New Gold Mountain (139,000).
ABC News Mornings led multichannels at 126,000.
The Morning Show: 132,000 / 72,000
Today Extra: 129,000 / 75,000
Studio 10: 38,000 / 31,000
In Total TV lifts last Thursday were:
The Block: 1.44m
Home & Away: 1.16m
Gogglebox: 1.03m
Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers: 521,000
OzTAM Overnights: Thursday 14 October 2021

Is The Cheap Seats filmed live on Tuesdays? Because the closed caption lagged a bit. But repeats on Thursdays are in right sync with caption.
That, or they take it behind the shed & shoot it.
The ‘Titanic’ doco was fairly dull dull overall but 211,000 is a reasonable audience for SBS.
I stream everything now, even on my Free to Air (when I can get to it). Working long hours most week days, I love it: It’s just so convenient being able to sit down on the subsequent weekend and binge the faves. Great to see the FTA networks have been working on improving their streaming platforms (for this reason)….
I streamed 10play for most of the evening. Got my Bold and the Beautiful fix 😂. Speaking of 10play, anyone know why they do not stream HD?
Weird thing is there is actually a 720p stream hidden on all of their “modern” VOD content. Not sure why its not forward facing on the website.
Its probably a claim of data costs but why is it still there? Its like the hidden 1080p iview stream. Probably a future plan that they haven’t gotten around to yet
It’s pretty clear from the constant repeats – e.g. Cheap Seats rerun in prime time 48 hours after its first run – that 10 is more interested in their streaming thing than on their FTA channel. As it one popup isn’t annoying enough we’re not getting top left annoyances for Paramount.
Should proof-read –

Watched Gogglebox but that was it. Ordinary night of television. Mind you its been like that most nights of late.
Nine should commission a Celebrity Tipping Point for 2022 for Thursday nights
Great idea!!! I love Tipping Point – my family think I’m weird……..
Yes been streaming all week except Sunday/Monday when I watched Celebrity MasterChef/Have you Been Paying Attention, I haven’t even bothered to check the guide really just hopped straight onto streaming each night. A worrying trend once you get out of the habit of watching free to air, how do they get us back?
I was mostly on 10…. Ambulance Australia was great….Gogglebox …I barely stopped laughing…and of course Blue Bloods❣….
I can’t see figures for the Cricket. We are in the dead season between the end of the footy and the real beginning of the cricket/tennis.
Last night’s cricket was probably lower than expected as it was bucketing rain when the telecast started, and for some reason they stated the game was abandoned before it started with reduced overs.
75k on 7mate.
That caught my friend and I out she texted me crickets back on ,also I had issues with 7plus started to watch the game and all it cane up with was the scoreboard so i went to FTA.
Split audience too – there were 41k watching on Fox (not including Kayo)
I ended up watching The young and the restless and Days of our lives on 9now last night
6 out of the top 20 before prime time started…..what if the networks beefed up the content before 6pm…wonder if they would get even more viewers…..?
Friday and Saturday to come and no sport to increase numbers.Thank goodness for streaming
Woah, those Studio 10 numbers are worrying! I’ve found it hard to warm to Tristan and those numbers tell me others experience the same. They’ve tried to get back the old panel vibe by adding in Beau Ryan as well as Angela and Narelda into the conversations but it just doesn’t flow. Perhaps they return to a permanent four person panel and a warmer, smaller set in 2022?
I cant do Tristan….just me….I actually came back when Beau Ryan was doing it….disappointed when it was just temporary….again, only my personal choice.
I’m loving love island
Entertaining already
After party though was a bit cringe to watch
Abbey looked great though..
Wow that’s crazy how much of a gap in ratings there was…Thursday seems to be a average night with nothing good on?
