This Sunday on ABC, Restoration Australia‘s Anthony Burke visits Airlie House, overlooking the town of Milton, New South Wales.

But it’s seen better days….

Built in the mid 1800s by famous Scottish pioneer, David Warden, its hundred and fifty-year-old regal, yet rickety and run-down demeanour caught the attention of Scott and Kate Lucas and they bought if for just over a million dollars in 2013.

But this house is going to be much more than just a home. After complete strangers saved their daughter’s life when she was involved in a near-fatal car accident they pledged to share Airlie House with the local community and let them use it as a venue for fundraising, weddings and open days.
But make no mistake, while Scott and Kate adore the period features and historic significance this property has to offer, they fully intend to modernise Airlie House. However, strict heritage may dictate what they can and cannot do. They’ll need to carefully navigate their way around these limitations. It will require some creative thinking on their part, so they don’t lose what makes Airlie House so unique.

Restoration Australia presenter, Anthony Burke, joins Scott and Kate Lucas on their journey as they attempt to restore the property’s regal beauty, win the hearts and minds of the community and bring this house into 21st century living.
