Bert Newton takes Nine to huge Sunday win

The King of Television helped Nine to a huge 41.9% share on Sunday.

A late change to Sunday night scheduling means today’s ratings need a little explanation.

Tribute show Bert Newton: Let Me Entertain You was fittingly screened in an 8:30 slot, pushing back 60 Minutes / Nine News Late / The First 48 -however the OzTAM numbers today reflect the original scheduling.

Update: Nine indicates an adjusted figure of 749,000 metro viewersfor Bert’s tribute, making it a timeslot winner.

The Block was #1 at 1.08m viewers, more than double Restoration Australia (467,000), Celebrity MasterChef (421,000) and 7NEWS Spotlight (355,000).

Later 60 Minutes was 319,000 adjusted then Fires was 304,000 then Border Security (272,000) and CSI: Vegas (203,000).

Bert helped Nine to a huge 41.9% share then Seven 21.6%, 10 15.9%, ABC 14.8% and SBS 5.9%.

Seven News on 830,000 pipped Nine News at 824,000. A movie Bad Boys for Life managed just 156,000.

The Sunday Project drew 305,000 / 212,000 for 10. 10 News First was 238,000 / 163,000  with FBI at 113,000.

ABC News was 607,000. Back Roads (225,000) and We Hunt Together (93,000) followed.

On SBS it was SBS World News (134,000 / 123,000) and Inside Central Station (116,000). An Incarceration Nation replay was just 31,000.

Insiders led multichannels on ABC News at 156,000.

In Total TV lifts last Sunday were:

Fires: 706,000
FBI: 299,000
Grace: 505,000
The Block: 1.8m
Inside Central Station: 298,000

  1. watched 60 Mins last night to watch Daniel Craig Interview I and sick and tired of Karl making all the interview about him and not the celebrity He does this all the time with them and it is so annoying bugger off Karl

  2. Big numbers for Bert Newton tribute given that there was a late change to schedule yesterday morning. Nine should be happy with these numbers. I was wondering if this is available on 9Now for catchup? David, with the consolidation of ratings, will this rebrand as Bert Newton: Let Us Entertain You?
    2ndly, with Melbourne Cup coming on Tuesday, I wonder what Channel 10’s ratings will be like at that time, given that crowds are allowed in the Flemington.
