Live In Front of a Studio Audience: Diff’rent Strokes, The Facts of Life

Kevin Hart, John Lithgow, Ann Dowd & Damon Wayans to recreate classic US sitcom.

Classic US sitcoms Diff’rent Strokes and The Facts of Life are set for Live TV re-enactments next month.

Live In Front of a Studio Audience by veteran producer Norman Lear and Jimmy Kimmel, which previously restaged All in the Family, The Jefferson and Good Times to wide acclaim.

Diff’rent Strokes  will be led by Kevin Hart in the role of Arnold (once played by Gary Coleman) and John Lithgow as Mr. Drummond, with Ann Dowd and Damon Wayans, as Mrs. Garrett and Willis, respectively.

Cast for The Facts of Life are yet to be announced.

“Other than with my family, there’s no place I’d rather be in my 100th year than on a soundstage at Sony with these glorious actors reliving what our company had produced all those years ago and sharing it with the millions of viewers who could use a little laughter,” says Lear.

“Jimmy and Norman have outdone themselves with a spectacular, irreverent and hilarious cast to once again create a can’t-miss television event,” says ABC Entertainment (and Hulu Originals) president Craig Erwich, with Sony Pictures Television Studios president Jeff Frost and co-president Jason Clodfelter adding in a joint-statement: “As Norman Lear approaches his 100th birthday, what better way to celebrate him than bringing back these classic shows.”

Diff’rent Strokes ran from 1978 to 1985 while The Facts of Life ran from 1979 until 1988.

It’s not clear if the special will be available in Australia as yet.

    1. I’d like to know the answer to that as well. I’d love to see that All in the Family re enactment show. David why not let us know if we can access these please?

  1. 7Flix used to show reruns of Diff’rent Strokes and Who’s The Boss in the afternoons and growing up through high school, I loved coming home and watching those two sitcoms back-to-back. Hopefully 7flix or even 7Two could reconsider airing those classics in the future. Looking forward to the US special airing next month as well.
