Cup Eve is traditionally a night of lower viewing and this year was no exception.
But it was also the night two new shows decided to launch, with Nine emerging as victor.
Parental Guidance managed a timeslot win for Nine at 629,000, normally not a very high number for a Monday audience. It also topped the demos.
But that was still ahead of Australian Story (529,000), 7:30 (517,000), Celebrity MasterChef (446,000), Big Brother VIP (377,000) and Who Do You Think You Are? (226,000).
Later Have You Been Paying Attention? led with 561,000, also a low number by their standards, then Four Corners (501,000) and Media Watch (445,000)
Nine network won Monday with 29.9% then Seven 24.2%, 10 19.7%, ABC 18.0% and SBS 8.2%.
Nine News (889,000 / 888,000) was best for Nine. A Current Affair won its slot at 736,000 then Hot Seat (374,000 / 221,000). Love Island was 204,000.
Seven News was #1 at 937,000 / 911,000 for Seven. Home & Away drew 528,000 then The Chase (464,000 / 268,000).
The Project pulled 333,000 / 204,000 for 10. 10 News First was 291,000 / 191,000. But a Melbourne Cup Preview fell to just 97,000.
ABC News was 631,000 for ABC. The Drum (179,000) and The Detectives (163,000) followed.
On SBS it was 24 Hours in Emergency (134,000), Saved by a Stranger (132,000) and SBS World News (124,000 / 121,000).
Another Bond movie, Golden Eye topped multichannels at 157,000. Doctor Who debuted at 94,000.
Sunrise: 263,000
Today: 239,000
News Breakfast: 108,000 / 94,000
In Total TV lifts last Monday were:
Love Island: 656,000
The Detectives: 341,000
Celebrity MasterChef: 845,000
The Block: 1.57m
Home & Away: 1.18m

Ouch for BBVIP. However considering who they have, kind of not surprised.
I watched Celeb Masterchef where there are actually proper worthy celebs on it.
I would be watching Celeb MC, except that I was really turned off Thorpey in the Olympics. His voice grates. Once he is eliminated, I will become more engaged.
Ouch! Apart from one big name Caitlyn Jenner the ratings certainly reflect the lack of real VIP’s for BBVIP. I’d be surprised if this remains in prime time past Wednesday, surely those numbers will continue to drop and rumour be told Caitlyn leaves the house early in the piece.
Bad casting, to many celeb orientated reality shows leaving the pool dryer to pick.
It’s a shame this show couldn’t have had some real celebrities it might have worked.
David do you know how much Neighbours lifts over 7 days?
Multichannel lifts not supplied separately… so it would have to be big enough to edge into Top 20.
Yes, no one cares about BBVIP. Still, not finding any of the reality shows exciting at the moment…
I watched BBVIP, other than Jenner they are all nobodies.
The only “celebs” left that werent cooking, apprenticing, dancing, and getting out of here.
I shan’t watch again.
I gave both BBVIP + Parental Guidance a shot. Both were absolute shockers. Little substance, even less entertainment. My guess is the numbers will be considerably lower tonight
I know one day does not make a trend (as every state CHO has told us for months), but I can’t see BBVIP improving at all. I decided to give it a miss this year having watched every regular season series. Ads were enough to turn me off.
