A new 10 part children’s comedy series premieres this Friday on ABC ME.

New local Kid’s comedy series Born to Spy premieres this Friday on ABC ME.

The 10 x 24-minute children’s comedy series from the makers of The Unlisted centres around Yu Na and Min Park who want more excitement in their lives. But they don’t realise just how crazy things will become when they discover that their once unremarkable parents are actually international spies and have disappeared in suspicious circumstances!

Until now 15-year-old Yu Na (Hannah Kim) and her 12-year-old brother Min (Ocean Lim) have had a fairly unremarkable life. They live in a house in the suburbs, attend a local school and their boring middle-aged parents run a hardware store two blocks from home. Yu Na often wishes her life was a bit more exciting and it seems her wish has come true when Yu Na and Min wake to find that their parents (Danny Kim and Julia Yon) have disappeared.

Like, not just late home from the shops. Properly disappeared! All that’s left behind is a note at the heavily-laden breakfast table:

Morning my darlings, We’ve had to run out. Keep safe until we return. Trust no one and act normal. P.S Feed the Dog.

The note’s strange enough, but last time they checked, they didn’t even have a dog! Now, there’s an Alsatian with a name tag that reads ‘Ludwig’sniffing around the house. While Yu Na and Min work together to “adult” their way through every day, they soon come to the realisation that their seemingly normal parents are actually international spies coming from a distinguished lineage of agents.

Things start to heat up when the kids discover they must complete their parents’ spy “to do” list and they begin to notice strange people lurking around the neighbourhood. They decide they can’t fulfill their spy mission alone. They recruit Min’s drama club friends, Allegra (Alex Kis) and Raph (George Holahan-Cantwell), both of whom relish the opportunity to support Min in his role of a lifetime. Likewise, Yu Na enlists the support of her bestie, Dutch (Lulu Quirk), a mad K-POP fan and technical guru. This mismatched ragamuffin bunch have to use all their skills to uncover their mission, fight off the baddies, keep themselves alive, save the free world… plus do their own laundry!

For these two regular teenagers things will never be the same as they come to terms with the fact that their ordinary and dull parents have been secretly training them for this very opportunity throughout their whole lives. Yu Na and Min were indeed Born to Spy – and now they must prove it.
