Axed: Cowboy Bebop

Scifi bounty hunters are axed after less than a month on Netflix.

That was fast.

Cowboy Bebop has been cancelled at Netflix after just one season.

Based on the anime series of the same name, the series filmed in New Zealand only debuted in mid-November.

It starred John Cho, Mustafa Shakir and Daniella Pineda as three bounty hunters, aka “cowboys,” all trying to outrun the past.

Variety reports the 10-episode series failed to find much love upon its debut, with both critics and audiences alike largely split on it -just a 46% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 54% audience approval.

    1. Why brad-v65 ?, Cowboy Bebop has its quirky moments and the story didn’t really need a second season anyway, it’s live action anime with some interesting creativity (CGI), using retro product icons of the 50’s and 60’s for visual style; with some unexplained technological advancements included. I suspect that if Cowboy Bebop was filmed in Japan with mostly Asian actors it probably would have started a cult following for Netflix just like Squid Game did, but a ‘Dark Matter’ sci-fi serial it’s not.

  1. Noooo me and my family really enjoyed this show with what I believed to be great acting and decent plot lines, I guess we’ll never know what happens with Faye exploring her past, Julia taking the head of the Elders, and Spike and Jet going their separate ways 🙁
