Axed: Head of the Class

Class is out after just one season.

US reboot Head of the Class has been axed after just one season, which debuted last month.

“We will not be moving forward with a second season of Head of the Class,” HBO Max said in a statement. “We were grateful to work with Bill, Amy, and Seth to bring back such an iconic series, and we thank them and the terrific cast for their hard work and dedication.”

The 80’s comedy reboot saw Isabella Gomez as a young teacher who takes over the honors program at a high school. Robin Givens reprised her original role as Darlene 35 years later, now as Darlene Hayward, a single parent who is focused on setting her son up for success.

The original series ran from 1986 to 1991 followed by a short-lived spin-off, Billy with Billy Connolly.

It screened in Australia on Foxtel / Binge.

  1. This show is horrendous, I feel like Bill Lawrence made it so his wife had something to do (Christa Miller stars in it). It is nothing like Lawrence’s other quality sitcom outputs like Scrubs, Cougar Town and Spin City, and to a lesser degree Ted Lasso ( still trying to establish if this is in fact a comedy)
