ABC News channel: 2022 highlights

Greg Jennett is the new host of Afternoon Briefing, and here are more details of ABC News shows in 2022.

Greg Jennett has been announced as the new host of Afternoon Briefing on ABC News.

Previous host Patricia Karvelas, now presenting RN Breakfast, will remain a regular face on the channel with analysis while also hosting special programs.

ABC News has also outlined its 2022 highlights in an Election year.

As poll day nears, the ABC’s top political team will bring viewers the latest news and best analysis of what it all means, including Political Editor Andrew Probyn, Insiders host David Speers, Elections Analyst Antony Green, Data Analyst Casey Briggs and the entire Canberra Parliament House team.

From Monday 31 January the full programming line-up is back with Australia’s most experienced live newscasting line-up: Michael Rowland, Lisa Millar, Nate Byrne and Tony Armstrong (News Breakfast), Fauziah Ibrahim and Johanna Nicholson (Weekend Breakfast), Joe O’Brien (ABC News Morning), Ros Childs (Midday), Gemma Veness and Kirsten Aiken (Afternoons), Karina Carvalho (ABC News Tonight), Beverley O’Connor and Yvonne Yong (The World), Ellen Fanning and Julia Baird (The Drum), Michael Tetlow (ABC Late News/News Overnight), Miriam Corowa (ABC News Regional/Weekends) and Mariam Saab (ABC News Weekends.)

Also coming this year on ABC NEWS Channel:

  • Stan Grant and Yvonne Yong present China Tonight starting 7 March. Monday nights at 9.30pm ABC TV/Tuesdays 8pm ABC NEWS
  • Chas Licciardello and John Barron return for the US mid-terms on Planet America. Monday nights at 9.30pm ABC TV/Tuesdays 8pm ABC NEWS
  • Ellen Fanning and Julia Baird return with The Drum, breaking down complex issues in this election year for viewers who want more than the headlines. Weeknights at 6pm on ABC TV/ 11.pm AEDT on ABC NEWS
  • Kathryn Robinson and Elysse Morgan return with The Business. Weeknights 8.45pm AEST on ABC NEWS / 10.45pm on ABC TV
  • Jeremy Fernandez presents The Virus on Friday nights at 7.45pm on ABC NEWS and ABC iview – with Casey Briggs, Norman Swan, Sophie Scott and others joining Jeremy to offer a weekly update on the pandemic at home and around the world
  • On ABC iview, the ABC News VideoLab explainer series also returns, with Jeremy Fernandez and others taking deep dives into some of the key stories impacting peoples’ lives
  • Tracey Holmes hosts big sports interviews and discussions on The Ticket
