Kayo Freebies to screen ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022

Kayo gives a home to Women's Cup after Free to Air cops a lashing over commercial decision.

Kayo Sports has confirmed it will stream the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 live and free from March.

It follows Nine not screening the NZ event based on a ‘commercial’ decision, while Foxtel Group has previously been given federal grants to screen Women’s sports.

Kayo Sports Chief Executive Officer Julian Ogrin said, “The Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020 produced incredible action and attracted large audiences. With more and more fans now choosing to stream live cricket, this is another opportunity for us to show our support for the Australian women’s cricket team and to showcase Kayo to every Australian who loves cricket.”

Australian wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy said, “This is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world and I’m thrilled that fans will now have an opportunity to see us perform on the biggest stage and make them proud.

“The way people watch cricket is changing with younger fans in particular choosing to stream cricket on their mobiles or tablets. This initiative taps into that next generation and helps widen our audience significantly. Hopefully they can get behind us and cheer us home.”
