Renewed: Bloodlands

Now a third season for James Nesbitt's Irish crime drama.

Irish crime thriller Bloodlands has been renewed for a third season.

Filming for S2 is currently underway in Ireland starring James Nesbitt stars as DCI Tom Brannick, whose secret identity as the assassin Goliath is threatened to come to light after the murder of a crooked accountant.

The cast features Charlene McKenna, Lorcan Cranitch, Lola Petticrew, Chris Walley and from S2, Victoria Smurfit as Olivia, an enigmatic widow at the centre of Brannick’s latest case whose intentions may be far from innocent.

Executive produced by Jed Mercurio, Jimmy Mulville and Mark Redhead it is now renewed for a third season.

Bloodlands screens in Australia on SBS.

I’m not quite sure of the logic of having a third season when the second was only just announced, this type of show does rely to some degree on unknown twists and now viewers know that Goliath’s tale is an ongoing one. With Jed Mercurio involved plot surprises, especially early deaths, are usually his trademark.
