Newly-launched Amazon Prime series Reacher has been renewed for a second series, less than a week after its premiere.
Based on the Jack Reacher novel series by Lee Child it features Alan Ritchson in the title role of a veteran military police investigator who is pinned with a homicide.
“The phenomenal debut of Reacher is a testament to Lee Child’s creation of one of entertainment’s most well-known heroes, Nick Santora’s original approach to the storytelling, Alan’s brilliant embodiment of the character, and the dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera to make such an undeniably bingeworthy series,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. “The global impact of Reacher makes it one of Prime Video’s biggest series debuts, and we can’t wait to bring fans a second season of their new favorite show.”
“The entire Reacher team— cast, production, writers, etc.—is so happy with the wonderful reception the show has received,” said showrunner Nick Santora. “Amazon, Skydance, and Paramount have been such fantastic partners and everyone is excited to roll up their sleeves and get to work on what will be a great Season Two.”

Wow that was quick I only just started watching it yesterday
No surprise, enjoyable and good cast. Shame the different stories will not involve Willa Fitzgerald, thought she was great in this series and knew little about her.
I’m not sure how true it is, but a couple of articles suggest they’re looking into a stand alone series with Roscoe…
The books author Lee Child revealed he was distraught to say goodbye to the characters when he was writing ‘Killing Floor’ and felt the same at the end of production of the first series of Reacher. He said,” Reacher moves on all the time and I was sad that I would never see Finley and Roscoe again. I mean literary, I was almost in tears at the prospect” Lee then continues, ”And I felt the same at the end of this season. I wish I had called it Roscoe now, and we could have had more!”. Willa Fitzgerald at a Q&A said she would like Lee to write another book on her Roscoe character, which would be necessary for a spin-off series. (Info source: Express UK).
I cant say that I am surprised by this quick renewal, Reacher is a series that ignores most of the recent Hollywood trends and just make an entertaining yarn.
