In 1986 Ferntree Gully High School won the Rock Eisteddfod with a dynamic performance of Two Tribes by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.
While many schools threw costumes and props in their ’80s performances, these kids threw sheer energy into a Cold War performance.
The routine was co-choreographed by a 16 year old Nadine Garner.
36 years on it’s still a stunner.

I participated in the 1988 Rock Eisteddfod in Brisbane. It was a huge effort and extremely time consuming, but a heap of fun. I have two left feet so I was a non-dancing background cast member 🙂 The choreography and storylines we used would never be accepted today (in a school context or society in general – blackface was used, which basically says it all).
Just Wow! and who knew….amazing woman….and boy, the Rock Eisteddfod was a wild event back then..😲….Amazing routine for school kids to get down pat…just awesome….Thank you for sharing 👌
