Airdate: Boeing’s Fatal Flaw

Aviation doco looks at the commercial pressures, flawed design, and failed oversight behind Boeing’s 737 Max jet.

SBS screens another aviation special this week, Boeing’s Fatal Flaw.

Two crashes, the same model Boeing plane; 346 people killed; an iconic American company’s reputation in tatters. The story of the Boeing 737 Max would end up exposing corporate deception and a broken regulatory process. But at the centre was a software system supposed to keep people safe that instead led to their deaths.

In an investigation with The New York Times, this documentary examines the commercial pressures, flawed design, and failed oversight behind Boeing’s 737 Max jet and the crashes that killed 346 people.

Wednesday, 18 May at 8.30pm on SBS.
