Axed: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

US superhero series is the latest to end, after seven seasons.

US superhero series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, based on the characters of DC Comics, has been canceled after seven seasons.

Co-showrunner and executive producer Keto Shimizu confirmed the news on Twitter: “Well, folks. It’s been an incredible run. However, The CW has let us know that there will be no Season 8 of #LegendsOfTomorrow. We are heartbroken, but also immensely grateful for the amazing work our cast, crew and writers have contributed to the little show that could.

“Thank you to our fans; your love and passion for our strange band of misfits has made every break, every script, every daily, every cut and every mix worth all the hard work. We see you, we love you, and you’ll always have a place on the Waverider.”

The show starred Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Arthur Darvill, Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh, Ciara Renée, Falk Hentschel, Amy Pemberton, Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller, Matt Letscher, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Nick Zano, Tala Ashe, Keiynan Lonsdale, Jes Macallan, Matt Ryan, Ramona Young, Courtney Ford, Olivia Swann, Adam Tsekhman, Shayan Sobhian and Lisseth Chavez.

It screened in Australia on FOX8 and Binge.

  1. The early seasons were great, but for me, when Rip Hunter (Dr. Who’s Arthur Darvill) left, that’s when it began to slide. We bailed after the start of season 6 because it had became too schlocky. The Golden Age of the Arrowverse are sadly missed.

    1. The CW may be ending as well, ViacomCBS and WarnerMedia may sell The CW, this may be a clue to why the mostly Greg Berlanti produced DC Arrowverse shows are facing cancellation, that and a fall off of audience appeal which it has to be said has effected other super hero franchises as well, as they become unrecognizable to DC and Marvel comic book superhero fans.
