Lachie Gill wins The Voice 2022

Former football player from Victoria wins the 2022 title, $100,000 prize and recording contract.

Lachie Gill has won The Voice 2022.

The 24-year-old Victorian representing Team Rita defeated Thando Sikwila, Jordan Tavita and Faith Sosene to take out the $100,000 prize money and a recording contract with Universal Music Australia.

“Oh my god! From the start, I just never, ever would have expected this. I’m just blown away. Thank you so much. Wow. Thank you,” he said.

Coach Rita Ora said: “You did all of this. Australia, thank you, thank you, I love you. I feel like this is just the beginning for you. Congratulations. I’m so happy for you I can’t breathe!”

ITV Studios Australia filmed alternate endings for the pre-recorded season with votes open until 8:20pm AEST.

While three powerhouse voices represented Teams Keith, Guy and Jess, viewers gave the win to the guitar playing former football player with the rock / pop sound.

His new single is Wasted Time.

  1. I remember Dicko back in the Idol days talking about that to win shows like this, you needed to have ‘G-Force’ – that being to appeal to gays, girls and grannys. Hence the over representation of good looking young men who win I’d imagine.

  2. I’m going to be a little harsh here. To be fair I didn’t watch any of The Voice so I have nothing to compare this guy to but I must be tone deaf. A rather mediocre voice and bland song. My father always said when a singer has to swallow the mic to belt out a tune there isn’t much talent there. In 12 months time we will be asking, “Lachie who?”
