Renewed: Julia

Sarah Lancashire is set to return as pioneering TV chef, Julia Child.

US drama Julia, starring Sarah Lancashire as chef Julia Child, has been renewed for a second season.

Julia is inspired by Julia Child’s remarkable life and her long-running television series The French Chef which pioneered the modern cooking show. Through Julia’s life and her singular joie de vivre, the series explores a pivotal time in American history – the emergence of public television as a new social institution, feminism and the women’s movement, the nature of celebrity and America’s cultural evolution.

The cast also includes David Hyde Pierce as Childs’ husband, Franz Kranz, Bebe Neuwirth, Fiona Glascott and Brittany Bradford, with guest stars including Judith Light and Isabella Rossellini.

It screens in Australia on FOX Showcase and Binge.

  1. It was fun, and a good performance from Lancaster. The show has become less and less about the cooking show and I’m not sure where a second season would go.

  2. Yes I love it too …. Such a brilliant cast, well filmed and recreates the era perfectly. The final episode naturally led to a second season.
