Surely that would have to be tens worst primary channel share in history came 11th even beaten by their own multi channels bold and peach
2.8% is unacceptable.
David ,is that the lowest on any FTA channel and I’m too scared to ask the ratings for the A League ,next week it’s the semi final on BOLD I think and of course the Election coverage on 2 ,7 and 9.
I made an error ,the A League starts later afternoon on BOLD.
I wonder why soccer rates extremely low even when there are finals. I think it’s got to do with AFL on Saturday night involving the Swans and Lions and NRL involving the Storm. Soccer is a minor sport, given that not a lot of Aussies watch soccer on TV. I haven’t watched soccer on 10 for a long time as I was at someone’s house playing cards. Rugby Union is still more popular than soccer given that Australia was involved in other events like Bledisloe Cup.
Normally WA viewers get primetime soccer coverage on 10Bold, but the rest get coverage live on primary channel. I think 10 Perth made the right decision to show the soccer on the 10Bold, given that 10 News rates higher than the soccer. When 10 previously had Rugby Union form 2013-20, their ratings are alright on A Saturday night, but the soccer ratings are so low and were smashed by ABC, 7, 9, SBS, their own multichannels and even 9Life. 10 have hit Rock bottom and landed 11th last night, which is worst ratings share in OzTAM history
Football rates so low because it’s on at the wrong time of year. No fan bothers to get invested in the A League when it’s bidding for my time versing the English Premier League and European Leagues. I couldn’t tell you who’s in the finals of the A League, wouldn’t know whose playing any AFL or NRL game but I can certainly tell you it’s a nail biting end to see who tops the EPL ladder Man City or Liverpool whilst watching Everton, Leeds and Burnley battling it out at the bottom to avoid relegation.
Then I’ve got Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League to fill my time.
Plus on Saturday night any football fan was in bed early to be up in the wee hours to watch the final of the FA Cup Liverpool vs Chelsea.
But come June I’ll be bored, it’s all finished that’s when the A League should be there to capture a football fans interest.
Soccer is more popular in European, South American and even in east Asia (Japan and Korea). There is simply limited appeal for soccer in Australia. Crowd numbers at the soccer games in Australia are very small and were much lower than AFL, NRL, Rugby Union, Tennis, Cricket and even the NBL. Alarm bells are ringing at Network Ten whether it’s suitable for Ten to continue with the soccer or not.
2.2% when Ash Barty was in the Australian Open Final https://tvtonight.com.au/2022/01/saturday-29-january-2022.html
But 2.8% for last night is still very bad!
