Senior duo depart activeTV

Shauna Kane departs as Head of Production and Kay Lawrence as General Manager, after long-term roles at activeTV.

Two senior staff have departed activeTV after long employment with the production company behind Carols in the Domain, Good Friday Appeal, The Amazing Race Australia and more.

Shauna Kane departs as Head of Production after 20 years and Kay Lawrence as General Manager after 10 years.

Shauna Kane said, “Working at activeTV has been a highlight of my career. I’ve worked on some incredible productions both in Australia and overseas; including The Amazing Race, Country Music Awards of Australia, World Superbikes, Tropfest and The Ultimate Fighter, just to name a few. I’ve produced 20 Carols in the Domain and have been the Executive Producer for many years. Carols is very close to my heart and while I’ll miss the scale of the production, I will truly miss the incredible team that work on it, several who have been there longer than me. 20 is a great number to go out on and I know Carols will continue to delight audiences across Australia for years to come. After 40 years in the industry, I’m going to take a well-earned break and then see what the future holds.”

Kay Lawrence said, “It has been a great experience working with activeTV. Coming from a scripted drama background to the excitement of live television and big reality formats was challenging, but after ten years and with the focus now mainly on Christmas content it’s time for a change. I have a few projects I have been developing and will also be working alongside Andy McIntyre and Nicole Dixon at Big Yellow Taxi Productions on their slate of comedy content.”

Michael McKay acknowledged their achievements and wished them well in pursuing life changes telling, TV Tonight, “Shauna had been with us for 20 years and we very much appreciate her extraordinary contribution to activeTV and Carols in the Domain. We’d have loved her to keep going but respect her decision to make a change.”

“Kay has been with us for 10 years, which I think also says a lot about our organisation.
“This year marks the 40th Anniversary of Carols in the Domain, although it’s only my 34th, but I couldn’t be more excited.
“All of our partners are lining up to help make this the most spectacular ever and we can’t wait for Christmas 2022.
“My objective is to grow our Christmas business and I’m enjoying being more hands on with an event I love so much.”
