1.8m watch NSW Blues thump Qld Maroons

Another huge Sunday share for Nine as State of Origin goes to a third decider match.

State of Origin pulled a huge 1.8m metro viewers last night with 765,000 in Sydney and 594,000 in Brisbane.

That was up of Game I earlier this month at 1.77m metro.

A NSW Blues win sent the 2022 battle into a third decider match  -a dream result for Nine- to be played in Queensland on July 13.

MasterChef Australia held on 518,000 then Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery (401,000), 7News Spotlight (392,000 from 7pm) and Code 1: Minute by Minute (264,000 from 8pm).

Elsewhere Miss Fisher & the Crypt of Tears  was 255,000 then Movie: Pretty Woman (194,000) and NCIS: Hawaii (191,000),

Nine network dominated Sunday with a huge 46.1% share then Seven 19.3%, 10 15.7%, ABC 12.3% and SBS 6.6%.

Nine News (870,000) had a rare win over Seven News (847,000).

The Project drew 372,000 / 223,000 for 10. 10 News First was 235,000 / 216,000 and an FBI repeat was 107,000.

ABC News pulled 551,000 for ABC. Compass (192,000) and A Life in Ten Pictures (143,000) followed.

On SBS it was SBS World News (174,000 / 131,000), 10 Mistakes That Sank The Titanic (104,000) and Pompeii: The Origins (101,000).

Bluey led multichannels on 166,000.

In Total TV numbers last Sunday were:

Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom: 279,000
Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?: 309,000
NCIS: Hawaii: 296,000

  1. I didn’t head to the stadium as I was at home but I watched game via 9now on Fetch. Last night’s Origin was the final Origin match to be played on a Sunday before reverting it back to a Wednesday night. (I don’t know why they play game 2 on a Sunday night since they announce the deal back in Nov 2015). I wanted to see the game back on a Wednesday night, however I would like to start the game earlier. An 810pm start is too late. Think about other fans especially young kids. Kids need to head off to school the following day. They should start at an earlier time of 7:50pm. That way it can help young children get refreshed and head off to school. But Game 3 falls during school holidays in most states.
Anyway, the next match is a decider & this will boost ratings. But I still think we might see 2 million metro viewers. I predict that this will be an extremely close match 3 at Suncorp Stadium. Go BLues!

  2. It was a pretty ordinary night if you didn’t watch footy. I’m not a league fan so i decided to watch some catch up tv cos there really was nothing on. Nine should win the week too but stranger things have happened 😂 Seven do have 3 nights of AFL and that has helped them in the past too. Guess we will see.

  3. *Seven 19.3%

Nine has this week sewn up already with those Origin2 numbers. Wimbledon late night viewing this week will only add to larger %.
