Airdate: Children’s Hospital

Nine observational series captures frontline work at Perth Children’s Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital and the St John Ambulance service.

Nine premieres a new observational series, Children’s Hospital, this Friday.

The eight-part series follows the work of front-line workers at Perth Children’s Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital and the St John Ambulance service.

Executive Producer Julia Redwood says “The doctors, nurses and staff are truly inspirational, but so are the kids. They show just how amazing children can be when faced with tough times – not only are they resolute but often incredibly funny.”

Many of the children arrive through the doors of their emergency departments for urgent, life-saving treatment. Others are flown thousands of kilometres for operations that will change their lives.

The multi-disciplinary specialist teams at both hospitals must deal with every emergency imaginable, from a bead stuck up a nose to a life-threatening brain tumour. Each unpredictable day brings a new set of dramas.

The premiere episode follows four cases. Louelle, a young girl, who has fallen through a roof while helping her dad clean the gutters. Six-year-old Harper, whose dizzy spell at school turns out to be caused by a golfball-sized brain tumour. Four-year-old Zavier, who requires emergency treatment after a fall and finds himself at the same hospital as his mother, who is about to give birth. And three-year-old Mia, who has pushed a bead up her nose and is reluctant to have it removed.

Join these kids and their families on their roller coaster journey through the emergency department, and meet the inspirational doctors, nurses and healthcare workers who go above and beyond to treat and care for every one of them.

Children’s Hospital is made by Prospero Productions for the 9Network, with principal production funding from Screenwest and Lotterywest.

Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth at 7.30pm Friday on Nine
Sydney, Brisbane, Darwin at 7.30pm Friday on 9GEM.

  1. This is the exact same name as the abc 1990s aus drama children’s hospital. Which had a few cast members who went onto star in all saints

    1. Or check out Childrens Hospital that aired on adult swim. Most of the first few series are on YouTube, the rest can be sourced through other means… An incredible ensemble comedy that is just so off the wall, and in easily digestible 5 or 10 minute episodes.
