You Can’t Ask That: June 29

Was this your childhood dream? What was it like... in front of the crew on your first shoot?

This week You Can’t Ask That poses questions you’d never dared to ask Porn Stars….

The porn industry is often assumed to be the final port of call in a desperate and destitute life. The place you end up when your acting career falls in a heap, you run afoul of addiction, or you’re just not quite right. The participants in tonight’s episode however don’t stack up to those stereotypes, they love what they do.

“Everybody always tells you that you should do a job you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life. So, if sex is something I love, then why wouldn’t I make it my career?” explains Angela White, the Adult Video News (AVN) hall-of-famer who many call be the GOAT of Australian pornography.

She set her sights on a career as a porn star at the age of 18, whereupon she departed for America and made her debut on screen shortly after. Today, she is living out her dream, only she’d rather just do it than talk about it. “When I’m f***ing on camera it’s a lot easier than an interview like this,” she says.

For Morgana Muses, 57, pornography provided a very different – though equally meaningful – pathway. Not only did it help her escape an unhappy marriage, it might have even saved her life.

“Within my marriage I wasn’t able to explore my sexuality. I was in a state of depression, planning on committing suicide, but I wanted to experience joy. So, what I chose to do was to book an escort,” she says.

Morgana ended her marriage that night and used the subsequent divorce settlement to launch a career as an amateur porn writer and actor. Her first film won an award for first time erotic filmmakers.

“Basically, the film was about me saying, yes, I was a dutiful daughter, dutiful wife, dutiful mother, but now I need to do something for myself,” she says.

9:10pm Wednesday on ABC.
