MasterChef Australia: grand final week

Guests: Heston Blumenthal, Peter Gilmore and Shannon Bennett.

It’s Grand Final on MasterChef Australia, with guests Week Heston Blumenthal, Peter Gilmore and Shannon Bennett all returning to tests the finalists.

Sunday:
In today’s all-important elimination, our three cooking contestants enter the MasterChef kitchen while our immunity winner looks on from the gantry. The contestants find two cloches on display, while the judges reveal that today’s elimination is a pressure test. The judges introduce three-hatted chef and MasterChef favourite, Peter Gilmore. Known for some of the most illustrious and punishing pressure tests in MasterChef history, Peter reveals the two dishes they’ll be cooking today; a savoury entrée and sweet dessert from his restaurant Quay. The contestants have two-and-a-half hours to cook simultaneously two of Peter Gilmore’s dishes: raw Abrolhos Island scallop, katsuobushi cream and sea cucumber crackling, and his dessert, moo with oloroso caramel, prune jam, vanilla ice-cream, whipped cream and biscuits. The contestant with the least impressive dish will be going home, narrowly missing a spot in the Semi-Finals.

Monday:
In tonight’s MasterChef Australia Semi-Final, our three finalists are pushed to the limit as they compete for a place in tomorrow’s Grand Finale. The judges reveal each finalist must create a three-course menu that is worthy of a place in the Finale for 20 diners each plus the judges. Contestants have four hours until their entrées need to start leaving the pass. From there, they will have 45 minutes per course to send out all their plates. MasterChef mentor Shannon Bennett is back running the pass and to offer support during the cook. At the end of today’s challenge, the contestant with the least satisfying menu will be going home.

Tuesday:
Welcome to the MasterChef Australia Grand Finale 2022, where our two talented finalists enter the kitchen for the last time. Surrounded by family and our returning contestants, the judges reveal today’s Finale will take place over two rounds. In round one, our two finalists have the luxury of choosing between a mystery box, a brief they must cook to or a cloche with one or two random ingredients that must feature in their dish. The second and final round sees the judges introduce one of the biggest names in the food world, Heston Blumenthal, who in turn reveals the two two finalists have five hours and 15 minutes to replicate his epic dish, taffety tart. The contestant with the greatest number of points over the two rounds, will be crowned the winner of MasterChef Australia 2022, securing the title of MasterChef 2022 and the $250,000 prize.

7:30pm on 10.
