Nick Kyrgios draws crowds to Wimbledon final on Nine

Big numbers for Wimbledon and 7News Spotlight -and the Total TV numbers that actually put Aussie Drama ahead of Reality TV.

Nick Kyrgios may not have been victorious at Wimbledon but it was a big winner for Nine.

The late night match didn’t start until 11pm AEST but it averaged a huge 785,000 metro viewers -meaning there must be a lot of weary-eyed sports fans this morning.

Nine pulled a big 37.2% share for the night, setting them up well for the week. Even Perth’s 138,000 on 9GEM was enough to top multichannels.

Meanwhile 7News Spotlight‘s profile of the PM enjoyed a rare timeslot win at 635,000 from 7pm then MasterChef Australia  (604,000 from 7:30pm), Australian Ninja Warrior (599,000 from 7pm) and the last ever Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery (427,000 from 7:40pm).

Later 60 Minutes led at 449,000 then Mystery Road: Origin (309,000), Big Brother (278,000 from 8pm) and NCIS: Hawaii (238,000).

ABC News was 526,000 for ABC. Compass (166,000) and Small Axe (65,000) followed. There was also a very big lift for the debut of Mystery Road: Origin last Sunday, putting Drama ahead of Reality TV shows…. who knew?

On SBS it was SBS World News (160,000 / 111,000),  France: A Journey Through Time (126,000) and Tour de France (123,000 across the network).

  1. Great figures (probably unsurprisingly) for tennis’ Aussie bad boy v (now 21-time Grand Slammer) Djokovic – and NK taking the first set pre-midnight would’ve given the numbers a lift into the early hours as well.

Conversely very disappointing numbers for Seven’s movie I Feel Pretty at 105,000.

The Seven News/Spotlight on Albo was a genuine exclusive (for a change) and I thought it offered viewers some fantastic, rare access to new PM Albo and his partner – well produced popular current affairs.

  2. To have a 11pm start of Wimbledon is astounding with 785k metro viewers watching the game. We must find out the consolidate total numbers for the WImbledon. I think the ratings will go up once the numbers are consolidated. Nine should be happy.
