Anne Heche “critical” following fiery car crash

Updated: Heche was reportedly speeding prior to crashing into an LA home, suffering severe burns when the car burst into flames.

Actor Anne Heche is in a stable condition after being rushed to hospital following a fiery car crash in Los Angeles.

“Anne is currently in stable condition,” reads the statement from her representatives. “Her family and friends ask for your thoughts and prayers. We also ask to respect her privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.”

Heche crashed her Mini Cooper into a home in Walgrove Avenue in West Los Angeles, suffering severe burns when the car burst into flames. The occupant of the home was not hurt in the accident, which caused significant damage to the front of the small house.

It is reported she was driving at speeds of up to 144 kilometres per hour before the crash. They also suggest she ploughed into a garage of an apartment complex before reversing then ramming into a nearby home.

LAFD Capt Erik Scott said: “We really had a multifaceted incident here.

“We had a significant traffic collision, we had entrapment of a woman inside that, we had a car that erupted into fire, and then we had a home that had significant fire that is red-tagged.

“It’s at this point destroyed.”

Heche, who is a former partner of both Ellen DeGeneres and Big Little Lies star James Tupper, has featured in Donnie Brasco, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Six Days Seven Nights, Ally McBeal, Everwood, Men in Trees and The Michael J. Fox Show.

Updated:

“At this time Anne is in extreme critical condition. She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” a representative said in a recent statement. “She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”
