Returning: Vera

New mystery episodes coming to ABC are yet to screen in the UK.

Season 11 of Vera starring Brenda Blethyn returns to ABC later this month.

When the series last screened on ABC earlier this year it was a ratings winner, outranking 60 Minutes.

S11 was disrupted by the pandemic so there are two episodes remaining to screen (Eps 5 & 6), both of which are yet to screen in the UK.

S12 will air in 2023.

DCI Vera Stanhope is called out to the grim scene of a body found in the back of a burned out car. When identified as a popular local GP we enter a world of intrigue, betrayal and lust learning that our Doctor’s relationships with those that knew her were anything but healthy.

8:30pm Sunday August 21 on ABC.

      1. My apologies, I knew there had been four episodes and because all other series had only been four episodes long I thought it was the same for series 11. How odd that during a pandemic they had a longer series than they’ve ever done before!

        1. Vera was renewed for a 4 episode S11 to be shot in 2020 and airing in early 2021. When it was announced, Blethyn was asked about S12, and said she wasn’t sure, maybe just a Christmas Special episode. The producers mentioned were considering launching a US remake if S12 wasn’t happening. Covid delays meant that only 2 episodes were ready to air in Aug. and Sept. 2021, with some fairly rushed shooting and post-production. 2 more aired in Jan 2022. Then two more were announced for later in 2022, making it six episodes over 2 years. They were possibly scripts that had been intended for S12 that were under development during the Covid shutdown. In March 2022 they announced that S12 had been commissioned and filming was starting.

          1. Thanks for clarifying that. Made me feel a little less stupid. Either way, just happy to have Vera back on the screen.
