Returning: World’s Most Scenic River Journeys

Doco series on SBS narrated by Bill Nighy begins with the River Bure in Norfolk.

Season 2 of World’s Most Scenic River Journeys, narrated by Bill Nighy, will premiere on SBS tonight, beginning in Norfolk, England.

There’s no better perspective on the world than from a boat on a river, as it gently wends its way through magnificent landscapes and outstanding natural beauty. Bill Nighy narrates this visually stunning documentary series, telling the stories of these epic river journeys through the characters who live and work on them.

But the world’s most beautiful rivers aren’t only to be admired for their scenery – they are also working rivers, the lifeblood of nations and cultural highways, shaping and sustaining the people who live and work along their shores.

Episode One: River Bure (Norfolk)
Bill escapes on a magical journey along England’s holiday river, the River Bure. A journey from the tranquillity of the upper river, through the holiday hub of Wroxham, and through historical open fenlands where we’ll discover a world where wildlife and recreation go hand in hand. The River Bure has been shaped by humans for over 1000 years and is one of the most scenic river journeys in the world.

7:30pm Thursday August 4 on SBS.
