Seb Costello to fight assault charges

ACA reporter plans to "vigorously contest" two unlawful assault charges related to an alleged incident in February.

A Current Affair reporter Seb Costello plans to contest assault charges following an alleged incident in February in Richmond.

The Daily Mail reports Costello faces two charges of unlawful assault.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed in a statement, “It’s alleged the man was involved in an altercation with a 23-year-old man and 22-year-old woman in an unnamed laneway near Boyd Street about 9.30am.

“The Richmond man will be charged on summons with two counts of unlawful assault and will appear at the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood. There were no injuries during the incident.”

News.com.au adds while the victims had decided to revoke their original statement, Victoria Police are pursuing the charges.

In a statement Costello said, “These matters are before the court and will be vigorously contested.”

Last week Costello made a statement with Victoria Police after a clash with former AFL player manager Ricky Nixon who appeared to elbow him in the face, requiring Costello to seek medical attention.
