Seven renews deal with Carols in the Domain

Three more years announced for iconic Sydney event on Seven, in the lead-up to its 40th Anniversary.

ActiveTV has signed a new three-year broadcast agreement with the Seven Network for Carols in the Domain.

The event celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year on Saturday 17 December 2022 in its original home, The Domain in Sydney.

Angus Ross, Seven’s Chief Content Officer, Entertainment Programming, said: “Woolworths Carols in the Domain is all about bringing Australians together at Christmas for a family night of feel-good festive fun. We are delighted to extend our long and successful relationship with the iconic Australian event and can’t wait to bring the festive magic to viewers with the spectacular 40th anniversary edition on Channel 7 and 7plus later this year.”

Michael McKay said: “Billed as ‘Australia’s Biggest Christmas Party’, this year’s Carols promises a celebratory mood in keeping with its big birthday celebrations. It’s going to be the biggest Carols in years, full of great singalong moments, spectacular fireworks and plenty of surprises to help the nation get into the Christmas spirit.

“For the first time in the event’s history, Woolworths Carols in the Domain will be broadcast to an international pay per view audience, especially for all the Aussies living around the world.”

Carols in the Domain supports The Salvation Army and attracts more than 50,000 people on the ground and a national total TV audience of 1.05 million viewers.

Free reserved seating will be available from 1 September at www.ticketbooth.com.au

The traditional ‘Seats For Salvos’ fundraiser will be held on Friday 16 December.

  1. I’d love them to go back to the Magic of Christmas days. They were great and with the 40th anniversary year, it would be fitting to do so. I think they could learn from the past. It used to be much more fun i guess. The thing with these is the set list is always the same. I get there are only so many carols but mix it up a bit. Even the lineup of songs.

Hopefully it will be free again this year. (Woolworths Carols in the Domain is Australia’s largest free Christmas concert. 2014 will be the 32nd year of this iconic Christmas celebration and we are looking forward to yet another star studded event.

    Or does he mean ‘For the first time international viewers will have to ‘pay’ to see it’?
