Airdate: The Bizarre Pet Vets

Meet Dr James Haberfield and his team caring for some most unusual pets.

New observational series The Bizarre Pet Vets will screen on 9GEM on Sunday.

The series profiles Dr James Haberfield and his team of vets and nurses from The Unusual Pet Vets and the unusual pets they care for.

The series is produced by Metamorflix with assistance from Screenwest, Lotterywest and Screen Queensland. Principal production funding comes from Screen Australia through the Producer Equity Program.

The ailments and treatments are as varied as the extraordinary range of critters. From freshwater crocodiles and chatty parrots to sugar gliders and snakes, frogs and lizards, mammals and dangerous animals – all are regular patients. Local wildlife is brought in, emergency cases arrive, and the vets are called out to zoos and aquariums for help.

There is never a dull moment if you’re a vet for these bizarre pets.

The cameras go into the waiting area, consulting rooms, even the operating theatre. Viewers will meet the loving owners and see what happens from the moment each pet meets the vet and is assessed for treatment.

Dr James Haberfield is the founder of The Unusual Pet Vets clinics. An expert in the field of medicine and surgery on unusual animals, he demonstrates his knowledge and deft handiwork daily.

The Bizarre Pet Vets was filmed across three veterinary clinics around Australia, and in addition to Dr James the series features other highly skilled vets who work with him. It’s a crack team that can treat any unusual pet that walks, waddles, crawls or flies through the door.

7pm Sunday September 11 on 9GEM.
