Returning: Documentary Now!

Dame Helen Mirren presents a bonkers showcase that isn't really about documentaries at all, on AMC+.

Comedy series, Documentary Now! which is in its “fifty-third season” (or S4 to those without a funny bone) will screen on AMC+ in October.

Co-created by Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers and Rhys Thomas, this sees Dame Helen Mirren honour ground-breaking documentaries. Not really.

The season premiere episode, “Soldier of Illusion,” stars Alexander Skarsgård (The Northman, Big Little Lies), Nicholas Braun (Succession, Zola) and August Diehl (Inglourious Basterds) and was inspired by the Werner Herzog-focused documentary Burden of Dreams. The series also includes appearances from Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine, Carol), Emmy®-nominated actress Harriet Walter (Succession, Killing Eve) and Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes, The Crown).

Double episode Wednesday 19 October on AMC+, continues weekly.
