As a dizzying heat wave hits Montreal and throws the city into a state of general torpor, the residents of the Saint-Henri neighbourhood fall prey to events that reason cannot explain. This romantic drama-comedy, crossed by timeless characters and places, is an ode to love and to Saint-Henri. A veritable doorway to the intimate lives of its inhabitants, the series is based on a coherent universe dotted with dreamlike elements. Dog Days stars Audrey Roger, Sacha Charles, Nate Husser, and Mireille Métélus.
The Collapse

What would become of society if essential resources became scarce? The Collapse is an eight-part anticipation anthology, focusing on the limits of modern society and the aftermath of its collapse. Each sequence-shot episode lets you experience those crucial and dramatic moments, as eight groups of people undergo a sudden and forced energetic transition. The Collapse stars Lubna Azabal, Philippe Rebbot, and Naël Malassagne.

Nora (Golshifteh Farahani) is a night driver for a ridesharing app. Addicted to amphetamines, her life is falling apart – she is drowning in debt, divorced, and she’s now sleeping in her car to save enough money to rent an apartment and obtain joint custody of her daughter. When her brother Ben (Vincent Heneine), also a cab driver, crashes his car, Nora offers to deliver a strange package for him and ends up being generously paid. Without realising it, Nora is now bound to a mysterious and dangerous underground network. Tonight, will be the darkest night of her life.
Alone Denmark (Season Four)

Alone Denmark follows hardcore survivalists as they seek to stay alive in extreme locations around the world. In this extreme survival experiment, 10 Danes are dropped off in the Norwegian wilderness to test how long people can survive on their own. In total isolation and with a minimum of aids, they must film their own fight against hunger, the cold, the rugged nature and not the least themselves! The goal is to survive for as long as possible. In Season 3, the survivalists will only have the option to fish and forage – no hunting allowed – and the last person standing wins.

It’s an idea that goes back a long way and had been examined many ways, many times.
‘The Collapse’ could be compared with ‘Last Light’ which is screening as a Stan Original this month, even though the show is made by MGM. I wonder how many other energy and global crisis dramas will be coming our way in ensuing months, if the underlying intention of Last Light and The Collapse’s producers was also to promote some dire environmental message regarding the ‘tipping point’ of our planet and its finite natural resources, creating fictional post dystopian melodramas without some realistic real-time basis may increase climate change denial, which must be expected if reality intrudes too much into peoples lives.
