Seven leads with Queen’s procession, Nine wins Wednesday.

Seven continues to draw in viewers with its resources thrown at London news events. The Block tops entertainment.

Late night live coverage of  Queen Elizabeth II: The Final Journey was led by Seven with 356,000 / 277,000 metro viewers, presented by Michael Usher, ahead of Nine News: The Queen’s Final Journey (177,000) which was largely a BBC feed later at 9:45pm. ABC News channel also broadcast in full.

The Block led entertainment at 772,000 metro viewers, ahead of a Hard Quiz repeat (497,000), 7:30 (442,000), Border Security repeat (290,000 / 275,000), and a Dog House repeat (282,000).

Later the penultimate Mad as Hell (sob!) was 497,000 with the finale of After the Verdict (325,000), and Summer Love (266,000).

Nine News (783,000 / 753,000) was best for Nine. A Current Affair drew 536,000 with Hot Seat at 349,000 / 228,000.

Seven News was #1 at 866,000 / 831,000 for Seven. The Chase won with 460,000 / 307,000 then Home & Away (443,000).

ABC News won at 579,000.  Win the Week was 180,000 then The Drum (156,000).

The Project managed 281,000 / 192,000 for 10. 10 News First was 279,000 / 176,000. Ghosts (151,000) and Bull (78,00) followed.

On SBS it was Great Wall of China: The Hidden Story (145,000), SBS World News (135,000 / 121,000), Secret Scotland (121,000) and The Stranger (59,000).

Peppa Pig led multichannels at 118,000.

  1. Agree that Michael Usher is a good host, with a calm approach and an air of authority about him. When David Koch leaves Sunrise (whenever that may be) I think he might be a good fit for that gig?

    1. I like that idea of Michael replacing Kochie, though the chemistry fit with Nat Barr will be everything to clinch it. Perhaps a turn over summer sunrise for Michael or has he done that in the past?

    1. But Ten flew Sandra Sully, Jen Keyte, Lisa W over to London and kept Angela Bishop there to cover the Queen’s death and funeral. Gotta get some return (however little) for being a part of a big event, bar the high cost.

  2. On commercial free-to-air, Seven seemed to be proactive and had focus in the coverage of the Queen’s memorial services, events and transition to the new King. They seemed to be more dedicated in coverage than other commercial networks in Australia. I can see why the ratings went to Seven.
