Wednesdays will really miss Mad as Hell

A consistent comedy winner is wrapping in two weeks time. The Block triples one rival -and Day of Our Lives boomed on 9GEM.

When Mad as Hell ends in two week’s time it will likely create a vacuum (and a rival opportunity) for the timeslot.

The Micallef comedy from ITV Studios is a consistent winner in its slot, season after season, last night at 460,000 metro viewers. Will ABC’s replacement show Question Everything get anywhere near as close?

Earlier The Block totally won its slot, triple some of the competition, at 796,000 then 7:30 (438,000), Hard Quiz (419,000), The Dog House Australia (289,000) and Armed & Dangerous (249,000).

Elsewhere After the Verdict pulled 300,000 then Summer Love (246,000), and The Chernobyl Disaster (233,000).

Nine network won Wednesday with 32.5% then Seven 25.3%, ABC 17.7%, 10 15.0% and SBS 9.4%.

Nine News was 778,000 / 751,000 for Nine then A Current Affair (653,000) and Hot Seat (322,000 / 201,000). Footy Classified was 109,000 in select cities.

Seven News was #1 at 922,000 / 917,000 for Seven. The Chase was 517,000 / 321,000 then Home & Away (488,000). Air Crash Investigations was 143,000.

ABC News drew 570,000 for ABC.  Win the Week (171,000), The Drum (156,000) and The Last Leg (119,000) followed.

The Project managed 298,000 / 200,000 for 10. 10 News First was 273,000 / 168,000. Bull was 102,000.

On SBS it was Tony Robinson’s History of Britain (165,000), SBS World News (141,000 / 122,000), Secret Scotland (133,000) and Suspect (58,000).

Days of our Lives was very high on multichannels at 193,000 – why?

Sunrise: 206,000
Today: 203,000
News Breakfast: 106,000 / 52,000.

In Total TV viewers last Wednesday were:

The Amazing Race Australia: 719,000

  1. Mad As Hell will be missed but at least we’ll get to see Shaun Micallef 5 nights a week when he takes over from Tracy Grimshaw, well unless Tom Gleeson gets the job of course.
