Will Goodings to co-present Seven News Adelaide weekends

Son of former Seven presenter will follow in his father's footsteps at Adelaide news desk.

FiveAA Breakfast presenter Will Goodings will join Rosanna Mangiarelli to present Seven News weekend bulletins in Adelaide, replacing Mike Smithson.

His father Graeme Goodings read the news for Seven from the 1980s until his retirement in 2014. He was also a sports presenter at 10 from 2019 – 2020.

News director Chris Salter told the Advertiser, “News is in Will’s blood. He lives and breathes it and cares deeply about the issues affecting South Australians.

“There’s something romantic about him occupying the chair his father (Graeme) did for so long. We’re pleased to have another Goodings back behind the Seven News desk.”

“New baby, new job – hell of a finale to 2022 coming up! Can’t wait to get started (on both!),” Goodings tweeted.

Mike Smithson, who has been co-presenting the weekend bulletins with Mangiarelli for the past two years, will remain “a key part on Seven’s plans moving forward” with a new role to be announced in the coming weeks.

According to The Advertiser, the pairing of Goodings and Mangiarelli is being seen by industry insiders as a sign they are being primed to take over from Jane Doyle, who is nearing retirement after 33 years of bulletins.

  1. There was a big promotion for Mike and Roseanna hosting weekend bulletins. The pairing then shifted to Fri/Sat, with Jane on a Sunday. Then that all stopped after a couple of months with only occasionally the duo together , but mainly solo swapping in and out and recently they’ve joined up again. I’ve noticed Jane is down to four nights a week now Mon-Thurs. Glad to see they are putting structure back.
