“After 11 fabulous years, we’re going to take a break in 2023 and come up with new, zany and exciting ways to rearrange The Living Room."

10 has confirmed it is resting The Living Room from its 2023 schedule.

Amanda, Chris, Miguel and Baz said in a statement, “After 11 fabulous years, we’re going to take a break in 2023 and come up with new, zany and exciting ways to rearrange The Living Room.

“We love spending Friday nights with you and have loads more fun coming your way before Christmas, so stay tuned!

“Thank you for sharing your living rooms with us, our little dysfunctional TV family of four. We hope you feel as much joy watching the show as we do making it.”

  1. It was more about the hosts being silly with each other and talking about those crazy gadgets in the end.
I switched off for good after seeing them make paper planes and seeing another crazy bull travel story – why did they call him the crazy bull? Dr Chris should have just done the travel he was great. My partner and I flicked over and saw Miguel cook scrambled eggs and then pull his chest out saying how good he was which he did a lot in the end, a lot of ego to watch. Hard to believe 10 produced it and let it go down hill like that. We have switched to Better Homes and Gardens they are much more professional and slick, we learn how to do DIY and all their hosts are warm and relatable.

  2. Seems to this little black duck that TEN is unwilling/unable to admit the simple truth – they completely stuffed up TLR when they took it in-house. They ripped off Queer Eye For The Straight Guy’s format and made a nice little lifestyle show completely unwatchable. Once loyal viewers ( like my brother ) switched off in droves. Wonder where the inexperienced TEN execs who crowed about the “new” Living Room are now ? Nothing to see here folks, unless it’s the fact that the stories were niche and stupid and there was absolutely nothing to learn by watching it anymore. Perhaps the inmates (AKA the presenters ) believed they could run the asylum and they were bigger than the show itself ? Hard truth is without great content and promotable stories you have nothing. Were they really making paper planes last week ? TEN is now pretending ( perhaps to appease the talent ) TLR will return in 2024. If so ( and I doubt it ) just keep everyone involved in this train wreck well clear.

  3. Agree with most posters, the original format was the best and appealing. This one just ‘rested’ has been too try-hard and to loud for me. Switched off after a few Fridays too. Shame, the 4some are great.

  4. Disappointed that The Living Room is being rested next year. What am I going to watch to keep me entertained on Friday nights next year? I really hope 10 brings The Living Room back at some point. But I’m going to miss Amanda, Baz, Chris and Miguel.

    1. I won’t name any names, but I gather it was building/handyman plus Landscaping/Garden presenter exits which where both unnecessary and noisy. They were kicked out with the door slammed shut. I’m sure the replacements are competent, but also more youthful.

  5. Agree with others, i never liked the new format as much as the old show. Apart from anything else it just felt too inconsistent, there were a few really high quality stories here & there from Dr Chris. But too many cooking segments with Miguel & not enough use of Amanda.

  6. I used to watch the old format religiously but with the new format/Covid interrupting the flow I have stopped. I did watch it occasionally as I do love all four presenters but the show has grown tired. I have found my Friday nights have filled up watching something with my daughters or I watch something on streaming services.

  7. Oh on not sure I can live without feeling guilty about all the junk I’ve been hoarding in my garage that probably needs clearing out, also going to miss how to throw a themed party without the ideas to make it a success from a Spaniard. Even harder without the “dysfunctional” Amanda in there batting for us women, hope Chris doesn’t get lost in the jungle and thrown in a big melting pot, but Barry I will miss that silver fox though. There’s another one for Ten’s cockups so we can at least be thankful for streaming and pay TV to entertain because free to air is running out of puff quickly.

  8. The Living Room was must watch tv for me on a Friday night until they became all Queer Eye which never rang true.
I don’t know if their was contract disputes that stopped them using the old format but I hope that is where 10 will take the show. Like others I haven’t watched the show after the first few episodes of the new format & couldn’t watch any more

  9. 10 started the show in 2012 and came up with a variety of different segments including cooking, gardening and more. Fast forward to 2020 and they’ve completely had a change – a new logo, a new format. I never watch new version but it just never the same.

  10. Are 10 going to admit they royally stuffed up the show after WTFN stopped producing it for them? It was a great show until they felt they needed to meddle with it, and the ratings fell away. If it ain’t broke…

  11. This seems for the best – the show always looks and feels cheap and just does not have the resources to do what it needs to well. A beefed up version may be desirable in the future.

  12. I used to love The Living Room but found the new format hard to watch.

Their focus on one family or story throughout the episode made it feel like the show dragged.
