The upcoming Frasier revival will pay tribute to the late John Mahoney, who played patriarch Martin Crane but died in 2018.
“His loss is and was devastating and must be given the proper attention in honor of the extraordinary man he was and the contribution he made to the show and to the acting profession,” star Kelsey Grammer said. “We will most certainly be honoring him according to his merit. A man of merit he remains to this day.
“John was a kind man, and the world cannot afford to lose a kind man at any time.”
Grammer also made it clear that the new Frasier series is not a reboot.
“Frasier, in his third or fourth act, is not a reboot, but a new show centered around the character in a new set of circumstances and a new city,” he said.
An Australian broadcaster is yet to be confirmed for the new series.

What would be good would be a remaster of the series, Cheers is in HD but Frasier is a blurry mess
I know it’s proposed to be a new show and all, but I hope that Jane, David, Peri, make guest spots. And Harriet Sansom Harris (Bebe), even if she is no longer his agent, has to appear. I loved every time she was on screen. She finally received her first Emmy nod this year for ‘Hacks’ but lost to Laurie Metcalf for the same show. And the real Bebe (Neuwirth) must appear with Frederick. 🙂
Also would love to see Dan Butler (Bulldog), Edward Hibbert (Gil) Patrick Kerr (Noel). Hell, why not the same cast? I know, it’s a new show…. Reruns will have to keep on doing it for me. 🙁
‘Oh Geez’ – John Mahoney is saying from above! 🙂 Lovely post and sentiment.
And so it should be the right and proper thing to do to honour John for his contribution. But no mention of “Eddie Crane” in the big dog house in the sky. Surely he deserves a mention too.
The first scene should be the reading of Martin’s will. Everything gets left to (a very old) Eddie
Love that, good one.
