Mike Sneesby tops Mediaweek Power 100 list

Nine CEO is chosen as most powerful in the current media landscape, overseeing Television, Print, Radio, Digital and Streaming assets.

Nine CEO Mike Sneesby has topped the Mediaweek Power 100 list.

Industry heavyweights gathered for the Mediaweek Power 100 Lunch on Friday at Crown Sydney.

In attendance were Beverley McGarvey, Brian Walsh, Jarrod Villani, Amanda Laing, Brendan Jones, Jackie O, Osher Günsberg, Abbie Chatfield, Kim Portrate, Peter Holder, Jon Casimir and more.

Lloyd Langford provided some entertainment while Kyle Sandilands send a video acceptance speech, on tour filming Australian Idol. Danny Clayton was spinning the discs while Seven News‘ Angie Asimus was host.

“We were ambitious planning the first Mediaweek Power 100 Lunch, but managed to attract a sold out audience of 300 people. The element that many people loved about the event was bringing together of media companies and the agencies that support the shows by purchasing ad campaigns,” said Editor in Chief James Manning.

“There was some controversy around some of the rankings of the various stars and executives, but we didn’t have too many complaints. Some of the chief executives in the top 100 were reluctant to accept a personal accolade, but we made it plain that the Mediaweek 100 celebrates the company achievement as well.

“Although this was the second year of the Power 100, it was the first year of our Star Power 25 list. We had great support from stars on the list including Jackie O, Osher Günsberg and Abbie Chatfield who managed to find a way into the top five.

“Also new this year was the Mediaweek Icons list with the first inductees including Rupert Murdoch, Kerry Stokes and Foxtel’s Brian Walsh.”
